Re: Friday Night Fun (and other stuff too)
This is what I am running in the VM Classic Series. Rather than start up a new thread, I'll just keep you posted with a photo or two each week. There's still a few touches to be done, but the basis of the paint is there. I did manage to get some Pixel Purple on there, but neglected to photo it, because I'm a numpty.

Great paint Dan, can tell what you spending most of your time watching at the minute shame they not doing so well in the GC this year.
Re: Friday Night Fun (and other stuff too)
Haha. It is a bit obvious. They're one of my favourite teams along with AG2R, though like you said, their Tour so far has been diabolical. Such a shame Millar didn't get selected. Also, they have the best looking jersey by far. Sky is a great team, but black with a blue stripe is a bit boring. It's all about the argyle pattern.

Re: Friday Night Fun (and other stuff too)
Did a team sky paint on my DTM a few years ago black with a blue stripe is just about in my painting repertoire
And agree Millar not being selected was a big blow hope he's selected for the vuelta, can always count on him to get a stage win from a break away at some point in tour.

Re: Friday Night Fun (and other stuff too)
Virtual Motorsports - Classics Series 8 - Round 1, Nurburgring. 18laps.
I qualified 25th out of 61, so moderately average. Which was good enough to be 12th of 12 cars in B lobby (or Room 2 as VM like to put it) To be honest, I didn't mind since that way there was no pressure. I couldn't go backwards at least.
After a very clean lap 1, by everyone, I'd picked off one. As you can see, the cars a varied. Yank tanks, Jap plastic and a few Euro models on show too. (I don't see how a 1994 Civic is a classic, other than it's age)
Lap 2, I scared another off the road. I'm now tenth.
Spent the next 10 laps working very hard on the lap times, more or less hitting qualy pace each lap. In usual "Dan-style", there was always time to hang the tail out.
I finally pitted on lap 12.
I came out just in front of this Lancia, which managed to get by me after a few corners side-by-side. I then had a good battle with a '73 Porsche 911, of which I was the victor. (Couldn't get photo since the race was 40 mins, and the replay only save the first half hour)
I finished 8th in the race, which is 21st overall; and 10th in the Privateers.
P.s. In terms of the VM experience.
Qualy went smoothly except for the host messing up a few settings, but it was his first time so I'll let him off.
The rolling starts. I set my 1st gear to do 60mph, which worked great, except for the others were probably only doing 57 or 58. Not my problem. But it all went well.
Only real complaint. Time between qualy and race is bordering on being worse than TORA! Yes. That long.

I'm sure you do Friday Night Fun on FM5 without me, Si.
Looking forward to round 2 at Le Mans. My straight line speed should keep me competitive... fingers crossed.

Re: Friday Night Fun (and other stuff too)
VM Classic Series - Round 2 - Le Mans (Old) - 9 lap race
So I made A lobby... oh the egos. The egos were cringe worthy. "My cars this... Your cars that... You'll beat me this week but next week..." I just kept quiet, until when forming the grid I got singled out as lagging, when the only car lagging was an ATP driver. If I was lagging surely all cars would have been floating on the wall. MORON. Although he voluntarily started at the back of the grid... before running to the forum to moan.
Anyway... qualified 9th of 51. Started 8th due to moany-laggy man going to the back of the grid.
Go go go. The start went well, in terms of fair and clean driving...
... but by Terte Rouge I'd dropped to 11th. However, we were now on the Mighty Mulsanne.
Slipstream City. My territory. Entering the straight 11th, by the braking point, I was 8th... oohhh yeeeaaahhh.
The car selection for A lobby was great. A 355 and a Countach just scampered away. A Pontiac GTO and a Lotus Eleven gave chase. Leaving my Jag, fighting with the above Celica, the below Charger (in Lightning McQueen colours) and a Lotus Carlton to fight over 5th.
I played the long game with the pitstops again. Pitting as late as I could.
I came out amongst my habitual track mates... CQR Haburi (Celica) and Austsb (Carlton). The Charger was now behind all of us, and no longer in contention.
What followed were two fantastic laps. Haburi struggled on the straight but did as best he could in the twistys. To keep up. Austsb however I have to give major credit and respect to. Side be side down the Mulsanne. Advantage to me. Side by side down Hunaudieres. Advantage to him. Then side by side through the first part of Porsche Curves. He didn't give way. I didn't give way. No contact. He came out in front, then slapped a yellow kerb in the final chicane and ran wide. Unfortunately it was too late in the race for the replay to catch it, so the photo is from the lap before.
Final position 5th. Championship position 5th
Next round Sebring My lack of acceleration will not be good.
P.s. Much better than last week. Qually actually started a minute early. Much much shorter wait than last week. Race was done and dusted before 10pm. A full 45 minutes better than last time

Re: Friday Night Fun (and other stuff too)
Holy smokes! Hardest but most rewarding qualifying session ever.
Sebring Short (the L shaped one).
Fastest time in practice = 1.20.1
20 min qually session. Lap 15. The clock has passed 20 mins. Last chance. My time is already a 1.19.6 and i take it to a 1.19.4!!! Full 7/10ths faster (can also be read as, "will get butt whooped in the race") So happy. 1.5 seconds faster than the other D-Type Jag too!
Sorry. No photos yet. Just a happy Dan.
