So TORA are hosting another Touring car season to start on 3rd September. All races will be held on Tuesday evenings.

I will provide further details when I can, but I thought I'd just post it up now, to let people know about it. If you're interested, then click the link below to have a read of what it's all about. If you like what you see. Sign up to the TORA site, introduce yourself and ask for a race number.

At the moment team and car selection are wide open. If your interested, let us know. Smile

looks like silverstone will be a 1.00.5** - 1.01.*** benchmark time so the cobalt wasn`t too shabby with quick build/tune to get a 1.01.4** Idea

yeah the leon and megane are best of the rest, i say rest as the civic is pretty much untouchable in the right hands.

I think a 59 second lap is easily possible, and will probably happen once the quicker guys get going.

I have put 8 cars in the club garage. 5 FWD's and 3 RWD's. They have very basic tunes (basically just softened them off 10%), but other than that no major time has gone into them. If you fancy a bash, look for the cars that say "TORA TEST VEHICLE" on the side. There are more cars available, but these are the ones I've had time to do. So feel free to make other suggestions and give feedback.

Personally speaking, it's between the Seat and the Lexus. The Renault is quick, but the Seat feels easier to drive. The Lexus is the best of the rear drivers for me. As I said though, no major tuning time has gone into them.

Also, with the livery rules being somewhat dubious, how about we do a bit of shameless self promotion.

In the club garage, there are a few cars sporting a rather cool looking silver and purple livery with the Pixel Motorsport banner across them. How about some thing along those lines, perhaps? Of course just an idea for now. If anyone else has an idea for a livery then feel free to suggest one. Smile

This is the one I was referring too. Lucy put it on a Corvette.

And here's my interpretation... slash direct copy on to a touring car.

Alternatively, Baz just messaged me saying he likes Jaffa Cakes. That's a possible livery idea, but it gave me another idea based on the same colours. A Jaffa Cakes Irn Bru livery?? Blue and orange for the win!! And it will keep Baz doubly happy.

F.A.O Daniel

Silver - special colours, 14th colour from far right end (top half black bottom half white 50/50 split) then x colour 1 H0 S0 B0.35. y colour 2 HO S0 B 0.53. Don't forget to save...this will give closest i can get in game to Maclaren Silver/Chrome.

The Purple is H0.81 S0.96 B0.49

I then use small amounts of black and white to outline the purple areas to make them pop a bit more and to almost give the purple some 'depth'

Courtesy of Lou many thanks.

Anyone done any further testing for this/nearing a car selection?

Been bashing out some laps on all the relevant circuits with the 8 cars I put in the club garage. Still have Nurburgring Short to do, but there are some interesting results thus far.

built some more cars but not had much chance to test. some of the builds are interesting, the kia cee`d has 350bhp weighing in at 35**lbs, absolutely on the limit. tried the ds4 which was nicely planted and smooth ride. really need to sort out the tail happiness of my tune though before start taking serious times.

put a very basic tune on all cars so they`re the same and 10 laps in tuning section. i think once my tune is tweaked to stop the lift off oversteer low 1.01s will be bout my limit round silverstone.

cobalt - 1.01.713
forte - 1.01.817
ds4 - 1.01.871
megane - 1.01.879
leon - 1.02.117
cee`d - 1.02.126
rocco - 1.02.131
scion - 1.02.237

That's because they're not tuned Baz. Very Happy  They're just built and then softened them off a tad to try and stop them from rolling.

Clearly hasn't worked since I've been on my roof 7 or 8 times. Razz Laughing

Si, I'm not even going to test the DS4.  I was in Tubbi's lobby a couple of times last season and the number of times he rolled that thing was incredible.
Some good times you got there too Si. In the process of building a Forte Coupe too. They're pretty good.

Now then.  Here's what I've been up to.  9 cars... 6 tracks... 3 to 4 flying laps on each.  Take the fastest lap of each car on each circuit, add them together and you get a combined time for all 6 circuits.  Then compare the times.  I got some interesting results.  The Megane is in a class of one.  As for the rest, they're all pretty close.  I'm not totally happy with all the builds, and the tunes are far far from right.

I can (and will) test other cars if needed.

Did a bit of testing using your cars on Thursday Dan and have narrowed it down to 4 of them,  wouldnt mind trying Si's Cobalt if he could shove it in the garage with a decent brake pressure.

Was having a look on TORA earlier and saw your post about altering the fwd PI, I can't see how they can say they are all as good as equal  because they are definitley not, just seems a little bit arrogant to me.  They need to sort it out or remove the quicker cars altogether in my opinion just think you are going to end up with a grid full of Civics, Renault and BMW's.

just from the quick testing i`ve done it`s plainly obvious the megane is quick and we know the civic is "leaderboard" quick, so yeah they`re aither being very ignorant or just plain dumb.

figured out were i was going wrong, hadn`t upgraded tyre width clown

tested these four @ catalunya with the new widths

megane - 1.19.605
leon - 1.20.287
scion - 1.20.848
cobalt - 1.21.116

updated few times for silverstone also with new widths

cobalt - 1.01.713
forte - 1.01.817
ds4 - 1.01.871
megane - 1.01.463
leon - 1.01.653
cee`d - 1.02.126
rocco - 1.02.131
scion - 1.02.018

can`t believe we managed to better the meganes/civics/leons last season with the poogoets:!:

right, think i`m just going to have to admit defeat in that the cars clearly aren`t balanced and the stand out cars are obviously the stand out ones (no need to test to know which ones).

so i`m focusing on four cars now, megane / leon / ds4 / undecided. still want to try get one of the lesser cars close to the A lobby cars. anyone thinking why not a honda (certainly civic), i just can`t as it too easy.

i reckon we should be able to muster up two teams to enter this. so far we have four members signed up and ready to race, if you are interested please state asap so we can start finalising things to submit official entries. if you`re unsure i do recommend it as it`s good experience and you do gain quite a bit from it, plus a bit of interclub rivalry is always good fun Twisted Evil
don`t be apprehensive about maybe not being fast enough or nervous about the racing as our club racing is on a par if not better. the lobby set up is very good so no matter how slow/fast you are you`re guaranteed competitive racing.

it really would be nice to see few of us involved and me, gaz, baz, daniel i`m sure will all be happy to help and advice any way we can as we`ve experienced it before.

good stuff daniel, as we both like the "can you see me coming" bright colour method maybe the white to a bright colour or even red to match the vimto letters.
the vimto lettering looks brilliant, infact the whole vimto vinyl looks spot on.
