controller vs wheel set up ?
out of interest and pretty much boredom whilst at work i`ve been scouting round for prices of wheel setups and was astounded (naively) at cheap ones being a couple of hundread atleast!
do any of you use a wheel or wheel/pedal set ups and if so is it worth the money and do they really knock the lap times down?
i can imagine it being more fun useing a wheel.

Re: controller vs wheel set up ?
si` i use the wheel combined with a driving seat, it`s the dogs bol*ocks mate. it`s way more fun than the controller and makes the game so much better in my opinion of course. you can feel the grip of the tyres through the wheel, you can feel the back end wanting to go, you can feel the force feedback through the wheel, the vibration as you cross the kerbs and most importantly for me is the ability to regulate the throttle better. the downside is you probably need a big space to set up the wheel in a seat. i`m lucky as i use one of my spare rooms up the stairs for xbiox, ps3 etc and have big tv mounted on wall to give more space. i`m thinking of puttting lock on door to keep mrs out lol

Re: controller vs wheel set up ?
what set up do you have baz?
i`ve only heard good things about the csr stuff and after doing some scouting around it seems csr setups can be had for £300-£400 all in.

Re: controller vs wheel set up ?
Got my order yesterday.
Now I got a CSR: wheel, elite pedals, H shifter and wheel stand.
It´s time for a short pros and cons in the morning:
+ Overall good quality.
+ Pedals have a great back pressure.
+ Wheel stand is heavy so it doesn´t move while racing.
+ Wheel can be adjusted with the help of the little LED menu (like dead zone, drift mode, sensitivity.)
- Price
- The clutch sometimes makes a noise when pressed down.
- Wheel fan is loud (can be adjusted but the standard setting is 100% power.)
I would recommend it.

still enjoying the wheel gerrit?
it`s been a dilema for nearly a year now as to getting a wheel or not. only just missed out on a few on ebay and now a csr/clubsport pedals/shifters and rennsport stand is on gumtree for £300 within a 1hr 30min drive. so close to just biting the bullit and bobbing across one night for it, only thing that`s stopping me is whether or not it`ll be compatible with the new xbox.

The new console will have USB ports I promise you, one of few things I have been told by staff on the development sector, they know/can only say very little but one of the things they did tell me was the new console will still be compatible with old controllers, wheels, kinect ect, and will be 4x faster as a year from now predicted to be playing games via digital download rather than discs.
Get it if it's the only thing holding you back, trust me

Re: controller vs wheel set up ?
Si, the wheel really does make it a whole new game, it's taken me a while to get the right settings on the wheel(to suit me anyway), I think Baz has it to sensitive at 270 really needs to higher, but the wheel is great for feeling the car through the corners, your using less lock with the wheel, so your scrubbing of less speed, I've never really mastered it on forza4 but with horizon and gt5 nailed it, definitly faster with the wheel.
I can only hope they've got it to work on the One. If you do take the plunge, get the clubsport pedals and not the csr ones, any questions I be glad to answer

Re: controller vs wheel set up ?
i`ve got a csr wheel and elite pedals paul, just don`t use it as it felt alien and just not "real". i couldn`t feel the car at all, there didn`t seem to be any input reaction around 11 o`clock - 1 o`clock and the tank slapping nature that the wheels affects the car with was damn right annoying. unfortunately i don`t have the time to fiddle about with the wheel settings and re-tune my cars from controller tunes to wheel ones. i`m about 5secnds slower on the wheel if i put in a very very good lap so i can`t justify swapping to the wheel this late in the game. still undecided if should keep it for fm5 or not.

Re: controller vs wheel set up ?
oh, I didn't know you had it, swap mate, you gotta. Once you change the settings in game, you get rid of the deadzone between 11 and 1, took a while to change from the controller to wheel but truly awesome much more involving, but totally understand about changing now it is to late
If you want we could set up lobby with you on the wheel and just play bout with the settings till you get a good feel for the game and wheel, so if the wheel does work in FM5 at least you'll have a better feel.
do you have a stand for it?
