MSM Renault V6 Clio Cup
Renault V6 Clio Cup
A few quick notes before going into the series details. This is an "independent" series from our MSM races, so anyone is free to enter and the rules are a bit different. I know there have been two informal gatherings between PNUK and MSM members. Official events are typically run a bit differently than those events, as I'm sure you would expect. The rules and regulations in the spoiler below are enforced, and failure to comply may result in penalties or disquilification. These are the "MSM Rules of the Road" and all MSM members are aware what expectations will be as well.
This addresses things like rear-end collisions and cutting corners. It's a lot of information, so if you're registered to the MSM forum you can access it here as well:

Now that is out of the way, here are the series details.

Scoring will be taken for individual drivers:
Car Restrictions and upgrades
All drivers will be using the 2003 Renault Sport Clio V6 with the spec build in the spoiler below. You may tune the car to your preferences. After upgrades you should be at B500 PI:

The grid order will be set by lobby points after qualifying. The qualifying will be 3 laps on that week's track. When possible, we'll use the early day setting for qualification, and the later day for the race.
Damage will be set to SIMULATION. In the event of a crash involving two or more cars that causes ANY damage on lap 1, we will restart the race only once. There will be no restart after the second attempt or after the 1st lap.

- Spoiler:
Maverick Speed Motorsports is always evolving, but there are some consistent "Rules of the Road" we try to follow to ensure everyone has a good time racing.
1. Respect: Not everyone is Michael Schumacher on the track. We all have varying skill levels and weaknesses. One of the primary goals of this team is to help drivers improve and compete on a more balanced level on the track. Disparaging someone's abilities will not be tolerated, on or off the track. Telling a member they suck or are somehow massively inferior is so far opposite of what this team is all about, you'll risk finding yourself removed from the roster if this is regular behaviour.
2. Aggressive blocking: There will be times when you're the slower car, but somehow end up out in front. Good job. Now defending that position is perfectly fine, but aggressively blocking faster cars is not appreciated. Making a single defensive maneuver is appropriate, such as scooting low to take up the inside line heading into a turn. Suddenly veering in front of a car passing you is not. Best case scenario is someone ends up driving off-track to avoid a collision. Worst case scenario creates an accident involving you, the car behind you, and anyone else following that couldn't swerve out of the way fast enough.
3. Rear-end collisions: Yeah, they happen to the best of us. You're blazing down the straight, catching up to the leader, when the next turn sneaks up on you. Brakes lock up, tires squeal, and the next thing you know you've punted someone off the track. In this situation, make an immediate effort to pull to the side a bit to get out of the way of traffic and let the car you've hit back in front of you. Unfortunately, this may cost you multiple positions, and likely any chance to win, but that's all the more reason to be sure you're careful when following another car.
4. Cutting corners: This one is a little trickier. The easiest situation to address is when you're following another car, but somehow completely mess up the corner and cut right through the grass or tarmac off-track. If this little shortcut put you in front of the other driver, please ensure you slow down and let them retake the position. Another situation might involve you out in front, and you take a shortcut to extend your advantage. Letting someone back in front each time this happens might not be the best solution. If it becomes a regular problem, we may message you about it, and eventually stop inviting you to casual races altogether. If it appears short-cutting is an intentional strategy used in an official competition, you may be disqualified and removed from the team completely.
5. Quarter-panel tap: This will usually happen as you're trying to pass a car on the inside, and as a result of lost grip you tap the inside quarter-panel of the leading car. The car in front will often lose grip, start sliding, and lose speed, which allows you to pass, or they'll completely lose control and fly off the track. In either situation, in an obvious bump you should slow to allow the tapped car to retake the position. Bumping cars out of the way to pass is not real racing, unless you're driving in NASCAR.
6. Leaderboard cars and AWD upgrades: Despite what it says in the recruitment page, MSM does have a tolerance for the leaderboard cars and AWD upgrades, but really these should only be taken by drivers who are struggling to close the gap with faster drivers or are still learning the ropes in driving technique and assists. Think of these as training wheels. Eventually, they have to come off, and so eventually you should be able to shed these cars to expand into everything else Forza has to offer. Anyway, we'll have so many showdowns and spec races not using these cars, you'll be out of practice once we do.
7. Lap Traffic: In real world racing, lap traffic cars will receive a blue flag warning. For our team, the blue flag situation will mean a couple things. First, please be aware there is a driver behind that is potentially running a faster speed, is fighting for positions, and will attempt to pass you at the first safe opportunity. Second, the blue flag car does not have to immediately abandon the race line or drive into the grass, but when it's safe they should provide space at a safe moment for both cars to enable a pass (such as a straightaway).
8. Communication: On-track communication will actually help to prevent a lot of the issues mentioned above. When you're a part of official races, it's important that you alert the other drivers of your intentions, such as passing lap traffic, allowing a faster car room to pass, exiting or entering the pits, and re-entering the track after going off-course. Indicating an intention to pass is not a guarantee the other driver will yield their position, but it will help to avoid unnecessary contact. Failure to communicate and understand another driver's intentions will often result in arguments and frustration later on.
I. Pit Stops
When stated in the race series posts, every driver must complete one pit stop during the pit window. Failure to attempt a pit stop during that period would result a DQ.
A "drive through" pit stop is not considered a valid stop. The driver must re-pit correctly on the following lap to be within regulations. Failure to re-pit will result in a 1 minute time penalty added to the end of the race total.
Drivers must also make a reasonable attempt to stay within the pit entrance lane while pitting. Obvious cutting of the pit entrance lane will be considered corner cutting, with appropriate actions taken (i.e., warning and/or time penalty).
II. Blocking
Aggressive blocking can involve multiple variations. One is to defend a position in such a way that the driver is making multiple moves or swerving across the straight to prevent a clean pass. If a driver is found to be guilty of this offense, we will impose a 1 minute penalty for each offense. Routine use of this tactic may result in a DQ.
The second version is where a driver appears to be using this tactic to create an accident, such as brake checking. With this, an automatic DQ will be imposed. Routine use of this tactic may result in dismissal from the team
III. Rear-end collisions
If the driver that caused the accident fails to yield their position after contact, we will impose a 2 minute time penalty.
If the driver appears to have caused the accident with the intent of harming another car, we would move toward a DQ, and possible removal from the team for routine behavior.
IV. Cutting Corners
If a driver is found guilty of regular accidental "minor" corner cutting in the same race, there will be a warning on the first instance. After the first warning, 1 second will be added per incident.
If a driver is found guilty of intentional "minor" corner cutting to gain time, we will add 1 second per incident.
If a driver is found guilty of intentional "major" corner cutting to gain time, we will add 10 seconds per incident. This would include barreling through the corkscrew or the paved areas at Sebring. Also, going full speed through the pit entrance lane without any attempt to stay on the paved area is a "major" corner cut.
If a driver accidentally or purposefully cuts a corner and gains a position, but then does not yield that position back, there will be a 1 minute penalty.
V. Quarter-panel Tap
The quarter-panel tap also falls into accidental or purposeful. The accidental tap can be resolved if the offending driver allows the other car to repass. Not yielding the position would be a 2 minute time penalty. Someone who is intentionally causing a collision would be DQd, and may be dismissed from the team for routine behavior.
VI. Livery Requirements
If there are livery requirements posted in the thread, there will be a warning for the first instance these are not followed. For the second incident, the driver will be DQd.

looks like U2SC & TREU could be looking at entering this aswell...............should make this a good series with competative racing all round

Re: MSM Renault V6 Clio Cup
Would love to do this after the few lobbies we have run in the car, but the time is a problem for a few of us it may clash with Season 5 races or we could put off season 5 season until this has finished. Have sent Dom a PM asking if pnuk could run this at a more eu friendly time and maybe add a 5th race made up of the top 5-6 drivers from each lobby.
Anyone else interested in doing this?

Re: MSM Renault V6 Clio Cup
I apologize if this does conflict with the normal team series. If there is indeed enough interest, I would not be opposed to running an earlier lobby to accommodate, and then simply merge the total times each week. I'm hoping the minimum for a "second" lobby time would by six or more people, including U2SC and TREU.

Re: MSM Renault V6 Clio Cup
certainly interested, quite enjoyed the few clio races in the lobby last night. didn`t mention anything earlier in the thread as thought it`d clash with season 5 but great if can work around it somehow.
