Connection Issues

my interwebz isn`t the greatest being fairly rural and after Northern Gas Networks ( No Good Nobheads!! ) ripped every cable out the ground within a mile radious it has suffered even more but over the past 2 weeks or so trying to race in a lobby is virtually impossible due to massive lag. i`ve done speedtest.net and everything`s fine bar a little high on ping @ circa 85, forza from what i`ve worked out is more about upload speed as it`s uses large amounts hence needing a good speed.
i`ve had a mate check over my router and even had plusnet (great company, can`t fault) try a few things their end, i`ve cleared the cache and various other suggestions made on fm.net but no joy. As mentioned alot on fm.net recently the latest xbl update seems to have affected something (fanatec wheels being a good example) and t10 may have something wrong threir end.
i`m not at all competent with computers as i should be but years of online gaming and analyzing ping/download/upload and p2p/server systems i really don`t think it`s my end that`s making it this bad even though i`ve not got super duper interwebz.

real shame because not only is it spoiling forza for me but i`m always concious of how it`s affecting others.

I told you..... 2 yorkshiremen using the tinterwebnet at the same time is a struggle for the hamsters running the generators, but don't we have 3 trying?
