Re: BTCC Suzuka Full
After discussing this last night we were looking at changing this to Suzuka full. The short Suzuka track with the pits is rather un-inspiring and we were wondering if it would be a bit processional. As its a season ending track, we wondered if the extra length of Suzuka would be kinda fun? Could anyone post any comments please, as it stands the majority last night seemed to be for using the full track...but if anyone else has any thoughts please feel free to post
PS just for reference an average lap in these cars around Suzuka full is approx 2:19.0 to 2:21.0

Re: BTCC Suzuka Full
Im going to have an attempt at adding a bit of commentators spice into the final event
News from first practice in Japan for the seasons final races at Suzuka.
Going into the final round there are 3 drivers in with a chance of the championship with a maximum of 61pts available. Some excellent mid season results have ensured that Goodwin, although struggling of late, is still in pole position with a 10 point advantage over ID. A mid season switch to the Volvo has seen Wicked mount a title challenge, after struggling in the Volkswagen Golf in the early rounds, although he appears to have lost a bit of momentum missing the previous rounds at Motegi. Goodwins closest challenger though looks to be Mr consistent himself ID, who even after a mid season switch to the Seat despite some good results in the Civic, is still smarting after being beaten to last seasons DTM championship by Wicked. It's this sense of perceived injustice that appears to be driving ID on and maybe the momentum is with him at just the right time?
Elsewhere in the championship, there are plenty of battles between the drivers looking to be best of the rest, with Baz and Ghosts having an outside chance of over-hauling LucyLou for 4th place in the championship. With the inconsistency that seems to plague LucyLou's performances, the jury is still out on her ability as a racing driver and the pressure may be too much for her to handle, so the drivers behind will be pushing until the final lap. A boost pressure decrease for Baz may see him struggling more here than at recent events, although the long straights of Suzuka do favour the Volvo outfits moto of raw speed over handling prowess. After a mid season break where many questioned Bazs playboy lifestyle of jetsetting and mixing with celebrities over commitment to his team, there is no doubting his return to form of late. It may all not go Bazs way though, if Ghosts can tame the wayward handling of his BMW he has shown that he is a match for anyone.
Si, who has just negotiated a new long-term sponsorship deal with BT is hoping the new renewed investment will help him to re-capture the form he has shown in patches throughout the season. Regular guest driver Twisted may yet put a late deal together with the Mercedes team to enable him to return for Suzuka. Both these drivers have the ability to get amongst the front runners and have a major influnce on the championship protagonists fortunes. There are also rumours around the paddock that MadManMark may be making an appearance in the Sierra, although these are yet to be confirmed by the team or the driver himself.
In the Constructors Championship, unless there is a shocking final round for the Volvos it looks like they have the title wrapped up although its very close behind with the Civics, Mercedes and Seats all fighting for runners up and the Sierra's and BMW's not far behind on an almost identical average. A late rally by the Volkswagen team has seem them have some strong performances of late and in SimF40, finally appear to have a driver capable of achieving strong results for the team after the early season struggles with Wicked. That Volkswagen have maintained focus, amid the infighting that saw Wicked sacked and Gerrit quit over the cars lack of pace, is testament to their strength of resolve. Seventh position though seems to be the best they can hope for now. The Focus and Integra team dont look like entering cars in the final round, with financial problems blighting a season that has seen them only compete sporadically in the championship with no appearances since Silverstone in early September.
Add into all this a late decision to switch the races to the full Suzuka Grand Prix circuit and it all points towards an eventful and exciting climax to this season on Sunday. Lets hope the action matches the hype

Nice round up Lou. Have amended the laps for Suzuka full a little bit longer race for the last one of the season. If you haven't voted yet for next season support race places do so as it closes this Wednesday.

Re: BTCC Suzuka Full
A fitting season finale last night great racing and a very close season, big congrats to Goodwin for winning the championship and to ID for finishing a very close 2nd position. Also big ty to all who raced and who made this the best championship we have run so far. Would also like to thank my fellow leaders for all the background stuff that nobody else sees and makes these championship run as smoothly as possible.
