Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
Well I had a couple dirty laps of 1:17.224 but It could have been faster. Just cant seem to find a tune that keeps that backend under it.

I'm the same although my times are higher, still can't keep the rear under control. If I could just get my hands on whoever chose this car

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
There is still too big a gap between the fastest and the slowest gt. I think the reasoning behind this is to try to get the slower people into a relatively competitive position. It is now difficult to drop the lowest PI any further without removing the supercharger which would then make the quicker drivers at too much of a disadvantage. I may be wrong however so best to ask gaz or si.

So what all assists do you all use and does anyone use a wheel.

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
I use the csr fanatec wheel on fm4 and gt6 but having to adjust to a controller for fm5 because Microsoft and turn10 are a bunch of wan*s. I use traction control on rear wheel drive cars atm.

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
From my own experience with assists using a controller these would be the order that i think they 'slow' you down (biggest slower downer first)
assisted braking
full automatic
simulation steering
ABS
manual without clutch
stability control
traction control
IMO half decent times can be achieved with ABS, TCS/SC, Manual without clutch and Normal Steering (never use simulation with a controller)
I found good time removing ABS. I then found a small amount removing stability control. Then another reasonable amount running manual with clutch. Finally i found more time changing view. I think its personal preference, but i am quicker and more consistent using bonnet cam (does make close racing more difficult though). I still use TCS 85% of the time

Silverstone times (these are full hot lap times with all variables that are adjustable tuned...Not convinced they are achievable in a race with other cars ):
C460 - 1:16.663 (This is a made up build. As C463 but with Sport tyres full width) (This laptime was v hard work )
C463 - 1:16.197
C473 - 1:16.026
C484 - 1:15.653

I've used sim. steering on the controller since day one. But, to use a quote from our seemingly favourite TV show

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
lol, I used to use sim steering...after one infuriatingly uncontrollable spin to many I turned it off How I understand it, sim steering always allows full lock at any speed, normal steering alters amount of lock, and even when steering the controller stick fully in a direction will only translate to full lock in game below a certain speed. For a beginner, if I understand correctly, this makes the cars easier to control with a controller as when moving the control stick at speeds over (40mphish I think) the lock applied to the car is less severe. For me sim steering works on a wheel as it is easier to regulate how much a wheel is turned whereas most people tend to be more aggressive with a controller which is where the tank slappers etc occur. I turned it off because my mind wonders and mid race I lose concentration and then suddenly steer fully with the controller which would result in said uncontrollable spins For a beginner, who is trying to regulate brake pressure, accelerator pressure, master the clutch, learn the track, avoid other cars I would advise that adding in 'only move the control stick a teeny amount' just adds in too many things to concentrate on

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
sim steering is a nightmare in forza5. in fm4 it could be controlled but f5 is just ridiculous! i spent close on 5hrs trying to tune a celica as the thing was undrivable. one race in a public lobby i tried overtaking someone down the long back straight at bathurst, pulled out to speed past and the back end went, felt a right prat and that was the final straw. started the tuning sesh, 5hrs later with no joy i checked the settings before turning off as a last resort and realised i had sim steering. if you`re using a controller you must make sure sim steering is turned off. i can`t stress enough that you will always struggle to be competitive in forza5 with sim steering.

I find it had to be competitive with most of you regardless of what I do.

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
when i first joined the club i was exactly the same and whilst i`ve been with the club i`ve seen many others be in that same predicament but improve so much with whilst racing with us. it does come and i really do think club racing improves you more than anything.
people who are struggling to race without assists, rivals racing is your friend you can concentrate on a marker (rivals time) without worrying about other drivers, get used to the car and track. whilst doing this you can try lose one assist at a time. drop an assist, lap and lap until you get the hang of it. drop another, lap and lap and so on. it`s a controlled environment where you`ll see improvement through lap times and you`re solely working on driving skill. once you get used to a car/track with as little assists turned on you can then concentrate on improving lap times by perfecting lines, braking points, acceleration control and times will come. once this improvement is under way you can then maybe choose one of the faster drivers in the club, try to keep with their ghost, this will show you what lines they take, where their braking points are and you`ll find that whilst taking this on board you`ll be improving times again.
anyone who wants builds/tunes for cars i`m always happy to help and can try knock something together.

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
Its just so depressing. I used to have nothing but top 100 times but its so much harder now. The game has advanced so far ahead of me that Im trying to play catch up now. Tuning used to be my strong point but that has severely fallen off. Ill get back into the saddle but I just hope its sooner rather than later.

BUT Lucy you just took the wind out of my sails when i read "1:16.026" ahh well back to the drawing boards , i think ill have to work on my tuning skills of having said that go buy some tuning skills

Re: Pixel Motorsport Mazda MX5 Cup General Discussion
Does FM5 have rivals mode? Where you can follow another persons "ghost car?" That's how I improved my pace initially. That way you can see the braking points and lines other drivers take. Once you've got that, the rest is just inter-club door to door combat. Just keep at it, don't give up on it. It'll come eventually.
Also if you get bored/fed up of one car and/or circuit. Try another combination. It's a great way to keep the game fresh... for me at least.

1:17.02 in the 473 build, would be so much faster and steady with some rear aero
