Newbie need advice gettingh started!
Hi
Just registered your forum recently as only just got my xbox online and want to start racing in Forza 4 as beginner. Realize I'll need to get some practice, a lot, in as don't want to race and spoil it for others. This evening made mistake joining public race and didn't really have suitable car so chose best I had and kept out of the way of others and let them race whilst I just got feel for online race. At what point do you think I should get to in driver level before entering online races and do you have a level min for your races?
Cheers

Hello efromm. We have various skill levels of drivers within the club. The best way to become a better racer is to race with clean racers and learn from them. Feel free to join in a lobby with us during the week. Send myself, wicked singe, lucylou217 or si a friends request and we can accept you into the club and have some races with you. This will also give you access to our club garage that contains tuned cars from all classes to practice in. Public lobbies in my early forza days were not the best learning curve for me.

We also host racing series in which the slower drivers have a higher PI level than the faster ones which results in more equal racing.

Thanks for reply
Thanks for prompt reply and I'll get some practice in first as not touched Forza games for over a yr so I need it. I've also deleted my save to start over again and build xp etc. Are you online most evenings or only certain days? Am I right in thinking most will be using wheels as I am on joypad as got rid of the wheel I had?

Re: Newbie need advice gettingh started!
Hello there and welcome,
In short, play the game. The more you play the quicker you'll get better. Level doesn't really come into to it so much.
Now here's the bit where I throw a lot of info at you. Sorry.
First tip. As Baz said. Join the club on the game and get involved.
Second tip is, try and turn off as many driver aids as you can. The sooner you get used to driving without them, the better and quicker you will become. Start with turning off STM (stability control) pretty much don't need it, then TC (Traction control), in the lower classes you can do without it. I admit ABS was the hardest to get used to for me. Also, try using manual as soon as you can too.
Third, try and complete as much of the career mode/event list as you with the AI difficulty as high as you can manage, before you go online. Online racers always tend to be quicker and tougher than the AI. Once you can beat the AI convincingly, online racing becomes a whole lot easier. Also, to some they seem boring, but try and do some autocross (slalom events) and some drifting. As I say they can be frustrating, but both disciplines require precision, and I find they help me a lot.
Fourth. Rivals. Chasing a ghost, can be a bit tedious, but again, you learn the tracks quickly and can see where others gain speed on you.
I know I've thrown a lot of info. at you here, so I apologise for that, but hopefully it can help.
At the end of the day. Just play the game. If any events get a bit tedious or frustrating, just find another event, there's plenty of 'em.
EDIT: Not all of us use wheels. I still use a pad. You can be equally as competitive with a pad.

Re: Newbie need advice gettingh started!
We are online most evenings. If you join the club there is definately someone on almost every night. I personally use a wheel but the majority of members in the club use a controller. When we are on during the week we are mostly testing our cars for various series that we are running or are generally involved in so it is good practice for everyone. It is very laid back during the week we normally run with collisions OFF so you could take part and not be worried about accidents etc.

Hi Efromm and welcome to the forums can't really add anything that hasn't be covered already in the posts above, if you have any questions just post them up and between the club members there is nothing forza related we couldn't answer, we have a good mix of racers, tuners and painters so have all the bases covered.
And as Baz said if you need a club invite just send one of us a friend request my party chat is always open so just jump in.

Re: Newbie need advice gettingh started!
Thanks for all the replies and info. I usually drive with all assists off except ABS so I'll disable that as well. Although, to be honest don't notice great deal of difference as I can be bit hamfisted with braking so need to be bit more careful. What I'll do is have bit more practice learning tracks and will try rival mode as did try it yesterday and got a bit lost as to what it was asking me to do on the Top Gear track until ghost car appeared. Got game set on hard at mo' so I'll ramp that up but expect I'll get hammered by AI! Brief try in lobby has made me realize online drivers so better than AI but lot more fun. I just stayed at back and learnt track and kept eye on lap times to see how I was doing - not great but got to start somewhere!

Re: Newbie need advice gettingh started!
The Nissan Leaf is the best car to use while learning to brake without ABS no engine noise so you can hear very clearly when the tyres are locking up.
Have sent you a friends request hoping your gamer tag is the same as your forum name else I have just sent a random a friends request
Just jump in some lobbies with us when we are on and we will help as much as we can.

Re: Newbie need advice gettingh started!
hiya n welcome to the forum/club
I have only 2 pieces of advice worth maybe listening to
the first is the Rivals...I would say they were 80% of the reason i've got a bit faster, the rest made up of advice and good tunes (many really good tuned cars in the club garage and there is a few brill tuners in the club too for any advice/help you need). Not only will they help you learn the tracks and lines (I would leave at least the braking line still on) but are also a handy way of earning credits quicker especially as you are starting from scatch
and the second, slightly tongue in cheek, is...Online random lobbies are not always a good place to learn tracks...there are a lot of crashers on there and 'win at all costs' racers. Pick your lobbies carefully and don't let yourself be intimidated/trash talked just because you are learning. Personally, I stayed away and still do stay well clear of them unless with a few club members (I like safety in numbers )
Just a note...we have mentioned that Rivals are a good way of learning the racing lines around tracks by following your rivals ghost...the only exception to this is if you are racing Gaz's ghost teehee

Have a license. Did have a bike. Don't have a bike currently due to in sufficient funds at the moment. I am an avid bike fan though. Missed two rounds of our championship because I was watching the MotoGP instead. Most things with wheels and an engine interest me. In fact, it doesn't even need an engine. Bicycles can be fun too.

Re: Newbie need advice gettingh started!
Eventually got it sorted. As never used Xbox online before didn't know had to set something in 'Content Filter' to 'everyone' not just 'friends'. Don't have mic & not sure I'd be able to talk & stay on track at same time. Some of you casually chatting in practice & it took all my concentration just to get around safely! Got a workhorse bike at mo Yam XJ900. Bit of a lump yet gets me to work. Intending to get another sportier bike for summer runs such as Blackbird or Kwak zzr1200. Had CBR1000 so miss buzz of acceleration as Yam ponderous.
Was wondering is it possible to spectate your races?
Cheers
