PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
Please remember that any of our members can come up with HLC, tuning events, photo competitions, racing events and mini series. If you have an idea test it out and put it in a thread. Myself, Lou, Baz and Si are always about to help if any is needed.

Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
I've had one in mind for a week or so now. Been doing a few tests, but still have some more to do. The only thing I can see being a problem is that it'll most likely be a B class event, which isn't to everyones liking, plus Si's just hosted a B class event so maybe it's a bit to repetitive. It'd be a hot lap as opposed to a tuning challenge.

Well get the cogs whirring in that head of yours, Baz, and create a challenge. I can save my idea for a later date.

Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
Just a quick bump for this any member of PNUK can come with a hot lap challenge, tuning challenge, paint challenge or race series. And don't worry if you have no CR to give away I can always fund the prize.
Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
Okay. So I've had an idea, but not sure how popular it will be, nor the exact format.
It revolves around the idea of classic cars, that went out of manufactory many years ago but have since made a comeback.
The Generation Cup
Car Class: C or possibly B
The Cars: Mini Cooper '03 starting PI, D315. Fiat 500 Abarth '10 starting PI, D312. Renault Twingo '09 starting PI, D284. Volkswagen Beetle '04 starting PI, E240.
The Format: I think I'd like to have it as a short series, but I am aware there are a lot of series' currently on going, so I'm not sure whether to make it a HLC. It open to suggestion though.
Rules & Restrictions: Obviously, the cars' starting PI's are all quite different so it'll take a lot of testing to get it to work effectively. My initial thought would be to have only 4, and each marque would have the same build, only tuning would be allowed. (so all Minis would have the same parts, all Abarths, all Twingos and all Beetles)
To be honest, I'm not 100% sure on how it'd work, so I'm just posting it to see it's popularity, since I know the lower classes aren't that popular with some members. If it proves popular, then I'll get to work and do the testing. And as I said, if anyone has any suggestions, then shout 'em out.

Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
First bit of testing from me done.
Tried to upgrade all cars with similar upgrades sport tyres no aero ect.
5 laps done in each car fastest times shown.
Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
Thanks for this Gaz.
Hmmmm. Interesting times and results. The top 4 or 5 are all really close. I've been getting similar times in the Twingo and 500. If you add in the Mini (14.9 at Hock. 07.9 at Silverstone) and Beetle (14.6 at Hock. and 08.5 at Silverstone) they tend to finish in the lower half, so, regrettably it could be worth binning them. I really wanted it to work, but ahh-well.
With regards to the builds, what have you been doing gearbox wise? I know it adds a lot of PI, but I've been putting in the race gearbox. That way, personally speaking any acceleration gains one has over another can be minimized by changing gear ratios. Also, it does make them feel quicker by the fact you're constantly banging up and down the 'box.
Second theory on the builds, regards tyre width. I've been giving the heavier ones, (Beetle and Mini) wider tyres and the lighter cars narrower tyres, as a way to try and balance 'em out. Not sure if you've noticed/tried it out. I was also thinking this could be a good way of doing the driver groups.
What do you reckon to having some of the cars slightly different PI to get them closer? Maybe only 3-5 either way.
That's all I've got for now. I'll keep going with the builds.
EDIT: Oh. On a technical note, I can see this table, but still can't see the leaderboard tables.

Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
I used standard gearbox and used full tyre width on all cars wanted them to use same upgrades for the purpose of testing. Maybe a slight tweak to each build would move them all closer each other and I don't mind running the cars at different PI if it evens them all out.

Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
Had another play around with the builds on these this morning. Managed to get the times a lot more similar/close. I'm convinced I can make the Beetle and the Mini competitive, but just depends how consistent they will be.
Lowest PI I've got now is 424 on the Twingo, and the highest is 428 on the Mini. thought I'd give the DS3 a try too, and I quite like it, which could throw a spanner in the works.

Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
I really liked the DS3 too Dan, chuck a few in the garage and then when we are next online and have a few peeps on we can race them in a lobby and see what times we get from other members.
Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
TY Dan will rename this topic as C Class Discussion so we can keep everything in one place.

Why would there be Kia's? They're history stretches as far as a 7 year warranty.

Fair enough. The initial idea was to use cars that have a history, like the Mini, Beetle, Twingo and Fiat 500. Gaz was just testing the potential of other cars to see if the series could be opened up a bit.
If you like Kia's that much you could always come up with a series, tuning, or hot lap challenge. Maybe Korean cars. Kia vs. Hyundai?

Re: PNUK Greenfly's C Class oogeemeflop
After a lot of preliminary testing from myself and Gaz (thankyou kindly), as well as a good helping hand from others, I think we've reached the initial builds. So you can build your versions, and tweak the brake balance, diff. settings etc. to suit your preferences.
Any parts that aren't listed, remain standard.
